TESTIMONIALS

“Going through this course was a fun experience where I learned a lot from Tasha's videos and could take each class at my own pace. She shows what a move will look like, shows another person doing it so I can see it in practice, then breaks it down so I can practice it on my own at home. I've never taken a self-defense course before, and now that I know these moves I want to join an in-person class so I can get more practice! This class should be in every school and business in the country, so that women of all ages know how to defend themselves from violence that could happen anywhere.”

“I really enjoy how personable the classes are, while you get to learn how to protect yourself. The moves are easy to practice and I feel more confident knowing that the more I practice them, the safer I can be by knowing what to do in a stressful situation. I loved watching these videos because I could practice from home, and that gives me the freedom to build muscle memory on my own time, and in my own comfort and quiet to process what I am doing. The instructor made a serious topic, something to smile and laugh along with, and that relaxed me more into the lessons. I love these videos and I having the ease of access to them. Knowing I can protect myself and being able to have all of these moves for all sorts of scenarios, and knowing why I am doing them, makes me feel more equipped to think clearly in a situation where I need to defend myself. THANK YOU!”

“Tasha's self-defense course has helped me gain confidence that I will know what to do if I suddenly face a violent confrontation.”

“I appreciate Tasha's slow easy pacing of techniques along with the demonstrations by other students. She has clear step-by-step instructions and I like her "What to do at home" practice pieces. As I worked through the course, I found it important to have a "practice partner" as Tasha suggested. It was one thing for me to be going through the moves, but an entirely different experience to feel the weight of an attacker shift as I followed her instructions, to feel the tactile experience of jabbing fingers into an attacker and twisting hands and arms. This course has so much information, I found it helpful to break it into sections and as Tasha said, practice as much as possible. That is key. Getting her instruction into muscle memory helps me feel more confident in the world. I like how she gave me so many options. If one technique isn't working, I've got more. I'll share my experience with friends and encourage them to take the course!”

“My wife and I are planning to move to the mainland soon and we wanted to at least cover the basics of self defense. Tasha is able to teach a very well-rounded and thought out curriculum by using her experience of more than a decade practicingmany types of martial arts. She covers not only physical maneuvers, takedowns, disarms, offensive and defensive techniques for various dangerous scenarios, but also general awareness tips and best proactive behaviors of being more alert of your surroundings and strangers.”

“Tasha is incredibly personable and helps to address the individual concerns of each student in her class. She is an excellent teacher for beginners and experienced students alike, and tailors each class based on everyone's knowledge.”

“[Tasha Ina Church’s] course is extremely informative and thorough. I appreciated the breakdowns of seeing Tasha do the move on someone, having someone else do the move, and then Tasha solo making sure you see all details and aspects of the moves. Her homework assignments and questions were extremely helpful, encouraging people to question safety planning at home. The course was helpful being broken down into multiple classes that you can revisit to practice. I am a trauma specialized mental health therapist. I cannot stress enough, the importance of safety training and education as a way to navigate the emotions with situations associated with trauma. The result is becoming empowered again. I highly recommend this course for everyone as it teaches so much. Thank you for this service, Tasha!”

“My husband and I have always had an interest in martial arts, but we could never decide where to start or which to choose from; there are so many distinct forms, types, and techniques. But luckily, Tasha has had training in multiple disciplines and has been able to condense and modify what she's learned to teach us the most applicable and efficient techniques of what we want to learn. We decided to learn together because we know that learning self-defense is beneficial for both partners, and being able to practice with each other will only help to reinforce what we learn in class together! We really appreciate that Tasha asks about specific scenarios or positions we would like to be able to defend ourselves against. Getting the one-on-one practice with her is also invaluable! She's always open to hearing our questions and showing us how to execute a maneuver. Tasha has been able to teach how to use our bodies, as well as various tools to defend ourselves (keys, pens, kubatons, etc) in a multitude of scenarios. It's so great to learn that we don't have to be armed to be able to defend ourselves. Also, it was so empowering to learn that anyone can defend themselves, no matter our size, age, or strength. She even taught us moves to use if we're in a dress or heels! One of the simplest, but biggest takeaways has been to have a defensive mindset. Learning how to think about safety in a proactive way was really eye-opening. Hearing examples or stories of how Tasha was able to use self-defense in a variety of scenarios has also given us more awareness of how to think defensively in the real world. The training that Tasha provides is more focused on how to defend in situations you need to, or how to disengage, immobilize an attacker, and then get away. It seems like other martial arts focus on techniques just to fight against an opponent in an even match or fight, not when an opponent has an upper hand or caught you off guard in an attack of opportunity.Everyone should take self-defense for at least their own sense of security. It can be because you feel like you get into situations where you are vulnerable (you like to run solo, walking to your car alone, going out at night, etc) or if you want to teach and/or protect a loved one in your life, it's an applicable skill no matter who you are. Tasha can teach anyone at any skill level, and learning from her is so easy and fun!”

“I signed up for this workshop out of fear, and I left there with not only the tools I needed but also with a choice to no longer be a victim. I was surprised at how simple it was to execute several ways to protect yourself from so many different scenarios, as I was under the false impression that it would be harder than it really was (physically). From the information, techniques, and comradery that happened naturally, I can wholeheartedly say that it was a genuine experience that changed my life. Until I was going through the motions myself, I hadn't been aware of how nearly anyone is subject via anatomy, to these defenses, no matter how dominating their size may be.

You can tell that the instructor Tasha, has a passion for what she is teaching, and aims to guide you as you learn to empower yourself. I got the online course so that I could keep practicing, and I had to put this training to use, barely 2 months later and I cannot express how grateful I am to have had the confidence I needed to get through that moment and to stand up for myself.

The training not only affects me physically, but it has had a positive impact on my mind and emotions. Taking the action to sign up, show up, and remain diligent in building muscle memory has been one of the most valuable decisions I have ever made and I don't have enough words to share my appreciation for what Tasha has given my life with the Elle Live Action classes. I am thrilled to be attending another and continue training around such amazing people with the same goal for a better, safer, and empowered life!”
